This years New Shoots Anthology Launch occured on June 12th and was a resounding success! Teachers, friends, family, UBC faculty and members of the writing community came together to celebrate the talented artists and writers published in this years anthology. Along with student readings we had the pleasure of hearing from Marguerite Pigeon and Elizabeth Bachinsky who donated their time as professional writers to encourage these talented young artists. Tanya Kyi, who acted as the New Shoots faculty advisor this year, also spoke to the talent of those published within the anthology. Gabrielle Rutman (MFA) gave a lovely talk detailing her time as a mentor and encouraging those published to continue to hone their craft.
It was a night to be remembered! Thank you to everyone who came in a showing of support to the next generation of writers and artists.
