The 2022 New Shoots Anthology is a gorgeous full-colour, 75-page book featuring 27 pieces of writing and 29 works of art, all created by VSB students.

On September 21, 2022, New Shoots held its first in-person launch event in nearly three years!
Students, teachers, mentors, families, friends, and members of the writing community came together to celebrate. Student authors read their published work aloud to the audience. We also heard from teacher Gene Derreth, as well as local writers involved with New Shoots: Fiona Tinwei Lam (check out her blog post!), Edie Reaney Chunn, Cole Klassen, and Tanya Kyi. It was a joy to be back together again, sharing the impact of our creative endeavours.
Thank you to all the students whose incredible achievements formed this beautiful book, and to the teachers and mentors who provided all the support needed to bring it to life.
