New Shoots 25

25Editors David Mount, Jeff Stautz, and Natalie Thompson say it best: the creativity of the young writers in this anthology “[are] already there; this engagement just needed to be tended, shaped, managed — like a garden.” “Grandma” and “Wrinkled Hands” are pieces that capture tender moments between a grandmother and grandchild. The poem “A Love Story” uses the classic metaphor of nature to convey a relationship. “Aman Sandhu” sketches out the transformation of an antagonistic relationship into a friendship. “Judgment Hour” is a poem that depicts the eerie atmosphere of an apocalyptic moment.
